Phone lines hit by cable fault

MIRPURKHAS, Feb 2: All mobile cell services and zero dialling of the PTCL system failed on Wednesday after a fault in optical fibre cable affecting telephone lines of thousands of people.

Mobile cell services failed and the city remained cut off with the rest of the country since 4:45pm.

As a result, a large number of people were affected and internet cafes remained closed.

Later, the services were restored at restored at 9pm.

NAZIM: District Nazim Dr Kaneez Sughra Junejo has imposed a ban under section 144 on carrying any kind of arms, preparation of fire crackers, its sale and use, raising objectionable slogans, delivering objectionable speeches, distribution of objectionable handbills and pamphlets, fixation of banners and posters, writing any kind of slogans on walls, playing objectionable audio cassettes, playing VCR and running mini cinema on public places and hotels, sitting of people at rooftops, situated on the route of mourning processions in the district for seven days from February 4.

MUHARRAM: Police have been put on red alert in Mirpurkhas during Muharram.

Strict security arrangements have been made by police and personnel have been deployed at mosques, Imam Bargahs, places of Majalis, main chowks, sensitive places, entry and exit ways of the city.

Plain-clothed personnel have been deployed at different places to keep watch on miscreants while police pickets have been set up at different places in the district to check suspected vehicles.

Patrolling has been intensified to ensure peaceful law and order situation.
