MARDAN: The additional assistant commissioner, Khola Haqdar, has said that all the available resources will be utilised to accomplish the mission of clean and green Mardan.

She addressing the inaugural special ceremony of cleanliness drive, jointly launched by Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSCM) and district administration, at Chato Chowk here the other day.

“The main objective of the special cleanliness drive is to raise awareness among the citizens,” she said.

The deputy manager of WSSCM, Mohammad Ishaq, said on the occasion that the company’s staff was working day and night to improve service delivery. He said that 180 tonnes of waste was collected from 14 union councils of the district on daily basis. He said that five tonnes waste was converted into organic compost every day.

He appealed to unions of traders to cooperate with WSSCM staff and hand over their waste timely to the sanitary workers.

MILK: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (FS&HFA) discarded nearly 4,800 litres of adulterated milk in the district during the last three months.

Officials said that a total of 347 inspections of milk outlets and vehicles transporting milk were conducted during May and July 2023 and 412 samples were tested in laboratory.

Kamran Khan, the deputy director of the authority, said the tests showed that 88 of the samples had water adulteration from 10 to 35 per cent.

He said two samples in Saro Shah area of the district were found to have dry milk powder while starch was added to it for thickness. He said that most of the complaints received by his office from people were regarding milk prepared from harmful chemical. However, he added, no such chemicals were detected in any sample.
