Eye unit opens in Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT, Feb 1: District Nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan inaugurated an eye unit in the district headquarters hospital here on Wednesday. The Netherlands government through an NGO, Wild Geese, has set up a laboratory and an operation theatre, besides providing Rs8 million equipment for the facility.

Speaking on the occasion, the district nazim said the eye unit equipped with the latest machinery would facilitate treatment of eye ailments and provided medical care to people of southern districts and the adjacent districts of Punjab province.

He praised the authorities of Pakistan Institute of Community Opthamlogy, Hayatabad, Peshawar, for extending full cooperation to establishing the eye unit in Lakki district. Medical Superintendent Dr Akbar Jan Khan Marwat, doctors, notables and elders of the area were present on the occasion.—Correspondent
