RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Thursday carried out an operation against an illegal housing scheme in mouza Adiala, Rawalpindi and sealed its site office, RDA spokesman said.

He said the enforcement squad RDA is taking strict action against illegal housing schemes. He said under section 39, 12 (5) of Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and under section 38 of Punjab Development Authority Private Housing Schemes Rules 2021, notices were issued to the owner of Al-Qaim Mansion prior to the operation.

The enforcement squad of RDA, with the assistance of the police from the police station concernedcarried out the operation against the housing scheme. The owner of this property was running the housing scheme’s site office in violation of rules.

He said an FIR was lodged against the owner of this illegal housing scheme in police station Sadar Beroni.

RDA spokesman said that the DG RDA advises the general public not to make any investment in unauthorised housing schemes which have been declared illegal by RDA.

They were asked to check the status of the housing scheme on the RDA website www.rda.gop.pk, otherwise, they will be responsible for their own loss.

He said the DG RDA has directed the Metropolitan Planning & Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate to take strict action against illegal housing schemes, their development, construction of booking and site offices, and encroachments without any fear or favour. RDA has also requested Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines and PTCL not to extend services to illegal housing schemes , he added.
