BATTAGRAM: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz here on Monday named the candidates for the general elections on two provincial and one National Assembly seat here.

PML-N Battagram chapter president Mohammad Mahajareen Khan announced the names during a press conference. Members of the party’s district, tehsil and youth organisations were also present on the occasion.

Mahajareen said former MPA Nawabzada Wali Mohammad Khan would contest on PK-32, while Sardar Sadiq would be his covering candidate.

Mahajareen Khan said he would contest the polls from PK-31 with Hanif Khan his covering candidate.

Similarly, he said Niaz Mohammad Khan would vie for the NA-13 seat on the party’s ticket, while Syed Niaz Ali Shah would be his covering candidate.

Mahajareen claimed that PML-N would clean sweep the elections from Battagram as it had a ‘strong’ manifesto and candidates with ‘clean’ past.

On the occasion, NA poll nominee Niaz Mohammad said the last PML-N government had helped establish peace in the country and put the economy on a sustainable path. “When PML-N came into power after 2013 elections, it ended electricity loadshedding in the country by executing new projects,” he said, adding that the PML-N government kept inflation under control and people had easy access to basic needs.

He said the Pakistan Democratic Movement government under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif had taken corrective measures during the last 14 months, bringing the country away from the brink of default.
