LAHORE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) in Dera Ghazi Khan etched its name in history and clinched the top spot in Punjab’s matriculation results, posting an extraordinary pass percentage of 86.37.

Surpassing the provincial average by a remarkable 5.29 per cent, BISE Dera Ghazi Khan has set a new benchmark for academic excellence in the region.

Anticipation and excitement had been building up as students and parents eagerly awaited the results. The much-awaited announcement was made by the boards of intermediate and secondary education (BISEs) on Monday, unveiling the achievements of students across Punjab. The overall pass percentage for the province stood at an impressive 81.08pc, reflecting significant progress compared to the previous year.

In DG Khan board, 86.37pc of students emerged victorious. The BISE Multan secured the second position, with 85pc pass rate, while the Sargodha board celebrated its success at third place, recording 82.82 pass percentage.

Lahore board lowest with 74.57pc

Despite the overall positive trend, there were variations in pass percentage across different regions of Punjab. The remaining BISEs reported pass percentage as follows: 82.70pc in Bahawalpur, 81.76pc in Faisalabad, 80.82pc in Gujranwala, 78.76pc in Sahiwal, and 77.20pc in Rawalpindi. The Lahore board stood at the bottom of the list, recording a pass percentage of 74.57.

As many as 1,120,790 students appeared for the matriculation examination across all BISEs in the province. Of them, 908,739 students got through the exam.

The announcement of the results was met with elation and pride during a press conference at the BISE Lahore office. The ceremony was presided over by Punjab Higher Education Department Special Secretary Agha Ali Abbas and attended by eminent personalities, including BISE Lahore Chairman Dr. Mirza Habib Ali, Controller Irfan Ahmad, and Secretary Bushra Bibi.

In Lahore, out of the 230,915 students, 172,204 achieved success.

The statistics for other major BISEs in Punjab are as follows. In Bahawalpur, 82,511 students appeared, with an impressive 68,233 successfully passing the exam. In DG Khan, 84,415 appeared, with 70,222 emerging triumphant. In Faisalabad, 156,212 students took the exam and 127,715 achieved success. In Gujranwala, 194,527 students appeared and 157,214 got through the exam. In Multan, of 110,142 students, 93,622 passed the exam. In Rawalpindi, 115,541 students appeared and 89,184 obtained success. In Sahiwal, of 64,059 students, 59,455 emerged victorious. In Sargodha, of 85,591 students, 70,890 celebrated their success.

DAANISH SCHOOLS: An astounding 75pc of students from 14 Daanish Schools, affiliated with BISE Lahore, secured the prestigious A+ grade, while an additional 17pc earned A grades, contributing to a stellar overall result of 100pc for the year 2023.

The highlight of this year’s results was Sidra Shabbir, a student from the Centre of Excellence DG Khan (Girls), who clinched the coveted overall 1st position, achieving a remarkable score of 1,088.

A total of 1,200 students from Daanish Schools appeared in the Lahore board examination, out of whom, 905 students secured A+ grades, while 192 attained A grades.

Daanish School Rahim Yar Khan (Girls) achieved its moment of glory as Kinza Tariq topped the Daanish Schools by scoring 1,082 marks.

The academic excellence extended beyond Daanish Schools, with 73pc of students from 12 centres of excellence located throughout the province obtaining A+ and A grades in their matriculation examinations. The centres of excellence displayed an outstanding performance overall, with a pass percentage of 99, and a total of 2,483 students appearing in the examination across their respective boards.
