Arrangements for Muharram finalized

KHAIRPUR, Jan 31: The district government of Khairpur has finalized arrangements for Muharram in a meeting. It was attended by Khairpur DPO Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh, SP investigation Javed Jiskani, all TPOs of the district and DSP headquarters.

The district administration has declared 31 places as sensitive, including Therhi, Khuhra, Gambat, Kolab Jial, Bhangoo Behan, Luqman, Gadeji and Priyaloi.

Ten madrasahs, 10 mosques and 17 Imam Bargahs have also been declared sensitive.

It was decided that security arrangements would be on high alert during the month.

It was learnt that around 417 mourning processions would be taken out in the district.

A peace committee comprising Sunni and Shia Ulema and notables has been formed to maintain peace.

The district government has also formed eight committees for monitoring of peace in each taluka of the district.

Taluka nazims would head the committees.

District Nazim Syed Niaz Hussain Shah has directed all taluka nazims to establish emergency centres in their talukas to handle any untoward situation.

HESCO: Line superintendent of the Hesco in Khairpur, Mohammad Ali, lodged an FIR at the B-section police station here on Monday against eight persons for stealing electricity conductor.

The FIR said the line superintendent found 4,500 metre-long 11kv conductors missing from ten poles between Pitafi village and Mohabbat wah.

Two 11kv decks and 11kv pin issue letters were also missing. The stolen material worth Rs180,000. Wali Mohammad Bhangar, Azizullah Kandhro, Najam, Ghulam Hyder and Peeral and three others were nominated in the FIR.

FIR: The Tando Masti Khan police lodged an FIR against 17 persons of the Khaskheli community here on Monday.

The accused included Muharram Ail Khaskheli, Naseem, Ali Mardan and Allah Warayo.
