Action plan to improve environment

Published February 1, 2006

MULTAN, Jan 31: The district government has outlined a comprehensive action plan to improve environment conditions. District nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar on Tuesday directed the departments concerned to play their active role in making the plan a success.

Under the action plan, the town administrations have been asked not to stockpile solid waste along the roads or within the city limits and not to set these heaps on fire as in both cases the environment is polluted.

The SP traffic has been directed to take strict action against the owners of smoky vehicles or those with pressure horns.

The forest department has been asked to plant trees massively so that pollution can be fought out. Hospital managements have been ordered to dispose of waste according to hospital waste management rules 2005.—APP
