HYDERABAD, Feb 1: The additional inspector general of police, Hyderabad Region, Abdul Rauf Yusufzai expressed his firm resolve to make the new police system successful with the cooperation of other officers.

He was addressing his first press conference on Friday at the Shahbaz Hall, where he was flanked by the DIG (Operations) Akbar Arain, the DPOs of Hyderabad, Sanghar, Dadu and other police officials.

He admitted that there were budgetary constraints but funds were in the pipeline to be released soon, for improvement of reasonable logistics, and other equipment.

He maintained that with the separation of investigation and prevention teams of police, under the present system, their performance was bound to improve and the system was bound to meet with great success.

He informed that now his office would be called Regional Police Office (RPO) as the post of the DIG, Police, Hyderabad Range, has been upgraded. He added that to offer active assistance to the Additional IG Police in each region, posts of DIG (Operations), Assistant IGs, who would separately deal with investigation, establishment and finance/welfare had been created. The prosecution DSP would also be there for legal assistance in the RPO. Akbar Arain has been appointed as the DIG (Operations) for this region. The AIG Investigation would deal with the affairs of controlling crime in all the seven districts and would have nothing to do with law and order issues in any of these districts.

About the constitution of investigation teams at each police station, he pointed out that these would be working under the control of Superintendent of Police (Investigations).

The police also organized a walk which started from the Pakistan Chowk and stopped in front of the press club. School children, DPOs, SPs, and DSPs participated in the walk, which was led by the AIG, Police.
