PESHAWAR, Jan 30: Leaders of the Mohmand Agency chapter of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) have announced boycott of the membership drive against what they called unconstitutional interference of party’s MNA Mirajuddin in the campaign and party affairs.

They appealed to the JUI-F chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, to take notice and stop the MNA from interfering in party affairs. The leaders said that they would oppose all decisions of the provincial chapter of the party until their demands were fulfilled.

JUI-F MNA from Mohmand Agency Mualana Ghulam Mohammad Sadiq was addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Monday.

The MNA said that he wanted to inform his party leaders about the decisions taken by JUI-F chapter of the Mohmand agency during a meeting.

The press conference was also attended by Maulana Abdul Hanan and Maulana Riazuddin.

Mr Sadiq said that some selfish elements in the provincial chapter of the party were interfering in the JUI-F membership drive in the Mohmand Agency and termed it unconstitutional and against political norms.

He said that they had nominated Haji Shamrooz Khan as party nazim in Mohmand Agency, who had also been administered oath. But Fata MNA Maulana Mirjuddin, who had no authority to interfere, opposed the decisions and another blue-eyed man, Abbas Ali, was nominated.

He said that MNA Mirajuddin could not interfere in the Mohmand Agency chapter of the JUI-F because Fata was not a permanent unit and the membership drive came under the NWFP nazim.

He demanded that the party chief and other stalwarts should take notice of situation.
