KARACHI: Two men were shot dead while a woman and a boy wounded during a clash between two groups of Malir residents on Tuesday evening, police and rescuers said.

They said that a group of people had visited the house of one Faraz where the quarrel took place and both the sides resorted to firing.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson identified the deceased as Shah Nawaz, 24, and Aziz, 26, and wounded as Akhtar Rahim, 12, and Lal Bibi, 45.

The deceased and injured were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Sharing details of the dispute, the SHO of the Shah Latif Town police station, Idris Bangash, said that a Tuesday bazaar was held in Salih Mohammed Goth near The TCF School. Faraz, who was reportedly intoxicated, arrived there and raised objections as to why the bazaar was being held. He allegedly opened fire and fled from the market. However, no one was hurt in the firing.

The SHO said that later the two parties met at Faraz’s home where they exchanged words and traded fire, which claimed lives of the two persons.

He said that efforts were under way to arrest suspect Faraz.

Police said that the encounter took place near Bagh Ibne Qasim. They said that the suspect was arrested in a wounded condition.

He was identified as 23-year-old Ali Saeed. He was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
