Newly-wed woman killed in road accident

RAWALPINDI: A woman who had just married was killed while four others, including her spouse, were injured when their car crashed into a roadside tree apparently after a tyre burst on Chak Beli Road on Tuesday.

According to emergency services Rescue 1122, four persons were travelling in the car.

Quoting Mohammad Zaheer, resident of Peshawar Road and father of the woman, the police said the deceased and her husband had just married in Azad Kashmir on Saturday and were going to Chak Beli.

Talking to Dawn, the father of the woman saidhis daughter, her spouse, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and his cousin were going to Chakri to drop her husband’s brother and cousin for a college test.

“I do not want a police case,” Mohammad Zaheer said.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the road accident on Soan Bridge rose to two after an injured woman died in the intensive care unit of the hospital on Tuesday.

Laiba, a college student and the niece of Mohammad Munir, who had died on Monday, breathed her last on Tuesday, a family member of the deceased said.

Mohammad Munir who had bought a new Alto car a few days ago, was on his way to drop Laiba at her college in Saddar from Mandra on Monday morning when the accident occurred.
