KARACHI: DHA school holds annual day

KARACHI, Jan 30: The annual day of the DHA Higher Secondary School Ph-IV held here on Monday. Speaking as chief guest of the function, Dr Akhlaque Ahmed said that the real purpose of education was the development of intellectual and physical capabilities of students so as to develop a balanced personality.

He underlined the need for properly channelling the energies and talents of the students for the development of their personalities and characters.

Dr Ahmed said that sports and extracurricular activities played an important role in this regard.

He said that our educational institutions should produce capable individuals who could deliver and contribute towards the betterment of the society.

Dr Ahmed commended the devotion, dedication and hard work of the students and the school staff for their excellent presentation of the programme.

Earlier the school principal, Nusrat Ossama Siddiqui, presented the annual report of the school and highlighted the distinctive achievements of the students made in the fields of academics, sports and other co-curricular activities.

The highlights of the programme included a fancy dress show, PT display, karate show, tug of war and many other exciting features.

Speaking on the occasion, DHA Director Education Brig (retd) Muzaffarul Hasan announced an award of Rs50,000 on behalf of the DHA administrator for the school. The legendary hockey superstar Islahuddin and snooker’s champion Arif Nakhuda also attended the function. In the end the chief guest distributed prizes and shields amongst the students.—PPI
