KALAT: Shahzada Abdul Karim, ex-Governor of Mehran and younger brother of Khan of Kalat, along with his 126 colleagues, has been arrested at Harbol, 16 miles from Kalat city, the summer resort of the Khan of Kalat, it was officially confirmed here this morning [July 15]. Shahzada Abdul Karim, who was reported to have entered Kalat State premises with about 500 armed men early this week, was chased by the Pakistan troops, 800 strong… . At Harbol … an armed conflict also took place wherein only two of the Shahzada’s men were killed and a few injured. But in the course of exchange of fire, the majority of his 500 men managed to abscond and are still at large. A portion of this “army’ along with the Shahzada … have been brought to Quetta and are being kept in the district jail.

[Meanwhile, it was also reported that] Pakistan’s Minister for Law and Labour, Mr Jogendra Nath Mandal, in an interview in Karachi … observed that the Scheduled Caste community in East Bengal was greatly “grieved” on the non-inclusion of any of its representatives in the East Bengal Cabinet.
