KARACHI: A newly-renovated emergency room, intensive care unit and patient rooms at the Holy Family Hospital was inaugurated by Karachi Archbishop Benny Travas here.

The Holy Family Hospital is a not-for-profit 225-bed hospital, which remains one of the oldest social welfare societies serving patients in Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion on Thursday, Bishop Benny Travas appreciated the services of the hospital over the years.

“The renovated hospital rooms are an example of affordable and compassionate medical care in a comfortable and soothing environment and it marks the start of a renewed life of the Holy Family Hospital, Karachi,” he said.

The hospital was established as a health facility for women and children by the Medical Mission Sisters, a religious order from America, in 1954, and quickly became one of the most well-known and reputed hospitals of Karachi. Entire generations of the city’s populace have their birth roots at the hospital.

The hospital is being upgraded to provide state of the art, high quality care to the patients, especially the underprivileged. There are 24-hour emergency and critical care services available for medical and surgical emergencies. For this, the emergency room has also been renovated with latest technology and trained staff to be responsive to all types of emergencies.

In addition, the hospital’s intensive care unit has been furnished with ventilators and other essential critical care equipment required to provide life sustaining measures for adults, children and for infants needing specialised care.

This is complemented by a modern and well-equipped operation theatre. In addition, the hospital has highly competent staff and physicians who provide professional care.
