LAHORE, Jan 29: Bay colt, Sindbad, put up a very courageous performance to capture the feature event, Larkana Plate Class V handicap race contested over 1200m at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The colt from One Against All out-of-New Bird, Sindbad, was given a brilliant ride by jockey M. Zeeshan to defeat chestnut colt Herry Can Run by three-fourth of a length.

Charming King coming from behind took the third position, a length further behind while favourite filly Top Cat completed the frame among fourteen runners.

A race earlier chestnut colt, Chan, made virtually all the running to land the supporting event gone over 1200m sprinting distance.

This colt from English sire Wathbat Nashwan from the lineage of Epsom Derby fame Nashwan, Chan set up a hot pace to beat much talked about prodigy, dark-bay filly Poly Love by clear five lengths on tight reins.

Poly Love proved no match dashing connections hope to ground.

Ridden by riding boy Azhar Hussain, Chan, is trained by Haji Ghulam Sarwar, who celebrated his return from the pilgrimage with a facile win through this prized colt, owned by Malik Ghulam Qadir.

However the best performer of the day was the bay filly, Lucky Coin, who stormed home to win the fourth race of the day.

Ridden by jockey Khurrum Sheikh the shapely filly, Lucky Coin proved her worth in gold for owner Zaheer Aslam.

He beat Zardan by about four lengths while Toru Khan finished third.

In all, 15 ran for the event. Trainer Raja Tehmasab Khan, who is fond of winning his horses at long odds, did it really on Sunday too, saddling two winners, a long shot and another at two to one.

His winners were Grey Swallow, who swallowed Namroud in the third race by a head and Sindbad in the feature and last race of the day.
