KARACHI, Jan 29: Chairman of the Mayo Ittehad Tehrik Ajmal Mayo, who had been stabbed in Clifton and admitted to a hospital two days back, died on Sunday.

Ajmal Mayo was walking on Friday evening in Zamzama Park when two unidentified men stabbed him in his neck and abdomen and fled. Mr Mayo called his brother by his mobile phone and informed him about the incident. The victim’s guards, who were standing outside the park, shifted him to a private hospital where he was admitted. Hospital sources said that the victim’s diabetic level was high which deteriorated his condition and he breathed his last.

The funeral prayer of Mr Mayo, a resident of Bath Island, was offered at Sultan mosque and he was later buried in a local graveyard.

DIES: A youth died in Pirabad on Sunday when the pistol he was cleaning went off accidentally.

Police said that Naseeb Khan, 20, was cleaning his father’s pistol when it went off suddenly. A bullet pierced through his body killing him on the spot. His body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy. Police handed over the body to his father.

ACCIDENT: A motorcyclist died after being hit by a bus in the Korangi Industrial Area on Sunday.

Police quoted area people as saying that a bus of route number 17-K had hit his motorcycle and sped away. The registration number of the bus could not be noted down. The victim was shifted to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body has been kept at the Edhi morgue for identification.
