PESHAWAR, Jan 27: An Election Tribunal on Friday adjourned till Jan 30 hearing on an election petition of former PML central secretary general Salim Saifullah Khan. The petitioner claims that after disqualification of returned candidate Malik Imran on the ground of his fake bachelor degree, he should be declared as successful candidate from NWFP Assembly constituency PF-75 Lakki Marwat.

Earlier the tribunal headed by Justice Salim Khan of Peshawar High Court heard arguments of both sides.

Naved Maqsood, counsel for disqualified candidate Malik Imran, submitted that on an application filed by his client the Supreme Court had restored his previously dismissed election petition. He prayed the tribunal to adjourn the election petition till final outcome of his petition before the Supreme Court.

Sardar Khan,a counsel for petitioner Salim Saifullah Khan, however, contended that the Peshawar High Court had disqualified Malik Imran on the ground of his fake bachelor degree and the PHC’s verdict was upheld by the Supreme Court. He said that the election commission had already announced February 15 for re-election on PF-75 Lakki Marwat and his petition needed immediate disposal.—APP
