MANSEHRA, Jan 27: Some people of Kaghan union council of Balakot protesting against alleged distribution of compensation and relief goods among survivors of October’s earthquake, attacked and damaged a vehicle of Tehsil Nazim Syed Junaid Ali Qasim near Bessian on Friday.

According to police, about 300 people staged a demonstration, chanting slogans against the tehsil nazim and blocked the Mansehra-Balakot road for two hours.

When the nazim reached the place to persuade the protesters to end the blockade, they started pelting his vehicle with stones and damaged it. The nazim was rescued by police. Witnesses said seven protesters were arrested but police officials denied any arrest.—Correspondent
