KHAIRPUR, Jan 27: Power supply to 22 villages from the Ahmedpur feeder in the Kingri taluka was disconnected here on Friday. A team of the Hesco led by line-superintendent Wali Mohammad Leghari disconnected electricity.
When they tried to put down a transformer, villagers offered resistance and compelled the officials not to remove the transformer.
The Hesco officials said that an amount of Rs5.597 million was outstanding against the villagers from last five years.
The villagers said the amount was due to inflated billing and detection.
They maintained that they would launch a series of protests from Sunday if electricity was not restored.
Meanwhile, line-superintendent Atta Mohammad Jamro has lodged an FIR with the Tando Masti police on Thursday night against five persons – Momin Kandhro, Ghulam Hyder Phulpoto, Wali Mohammad Bhangar and two others – for stealing coils from the transformer.
CLASH: One person was killed in a clash between two rival tribes on a matrimonial dispute near the Allah Dito Bhand village in the Gambat taluka on Friday.
During exchange of fire, one Shaukat Ali Bhand was killed.
Later, his maternal uncle Abdul Karim Bhand died due to severe shock.
Corpse of Shaukat was handed over to relatives after post-mortem from the Gambat taluka hospital.
