Pleas against new district dismissed

QUETTA: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court has dismissed three constitutional petitions filed against the bifurcation of Lasbela district and the establishment of new Hub district by the Balochistan government, on Thursday.

These petitions challenged the decision of the Balochistan government regarding the formation of a new district and the bifurcation of the Lasbela district last year.

The order noted that all the petitioners have challenged the impugned notification issued by the senior member of the Board of Revenue on the order of the Balochistan government.

The court said that the petitioners have failed to prove that the bifurcation of Lasbela district violates the law or demonstrate unfairness, unreasonableness, arbitrariness, or bad faith on the part of the government.

The petitioners have failed to show that creation of new district Hub by division of district Lasbela by the Balochistan government is infraction of law or warranting judicial review of the same by this court under Article 199 of the Constitution, it said.
