KARACHI: Two employees of the office of Accountant General Sind Karachi, Mohammad Kaleem and Harris will go on a 24-hour strike here today [June 21] in support of their colleagues on strike in response to a call of the All Pakistan Combined Audit and Accounts Association to press for acceptance of their 13 demands. A spokesman of the Association said that the Auditor-General of Pakistan had asked the heads of the Departments to collect particulars of the active leaders to supply them to the Police, and declared if it helped the cause of the poor employees, the Association’s office-bearer was prepared to court arrest.

A press release of the Association said the Class IV employees strike in support of the six-day-old strike of the audit and accounts employees affected the work in the department adversely. As per the Association, there was no work in the emergency cell from 10am to 12 noon yesterday as some of the officers had gone on leave and others might follow suit. The General Secretary of the T&T employees Federation said if the Government failed to start negotiations with the striking employees within 24 hours, the T&T employees would observe a similar token strike.
