LAHORE, Jan 26: The Higher Education Commission’s National Committee on Examination Systems (NCES) will meet at the University of Health Sciences on Friday (today) to finalize improvements in examination systems in Pakistan.

As a part of NCES activities, the HEC and UHS had jointly arranged a two-day orientation workshop for the representatives of all 59 public and private universities of the country, which concluded here on Thursday. The workshop resolved to combine forces against the demerits of existing systems of examinations.

UHS vice-chancellor Prof Malik Husain Mubbashar said on the occasion that blindly applying the Western models would not be a wise step. There was a need of a very careful study of the merits and demerits of all the systems of examinations currently in vogue in the country.

Later, the workshop participants visited university’s examination department, where they were briefed on the processes of paper-setting, marking and tabulation of results.
