NAROWAL: The Sialkot police arrested an inspector of the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) on allegations of raping a woman on the motorway.

The victim woman, a resident of Ichhra, Lahore, filed a complaint with the Daska police, saying that she had come to Daska for some work. She added that she was waiting for a rickshaw by the roadside when a motorway police vehicle having an officer and three employees stopped by her. The officers offered her lift to the place she wanted to go to but took her to the motorway.

The woman alleged that the inspector, identified by name in the FIR, sent other policemen away and raped her.

She said the Daska police, instead of registering an FIR of rape against the suspect, registered an FIR of attempted rape. She complained she had to wait for a medicolegal in the hospital for five hours but due to connivance between police officers, her medical was not being done.

Daska Saddar police registered an FIR against the motorway police officer.

Khurram Shahzad, the spokesperson for Sialkot police, said the police had arrested the inspector and were investigating the case.

The woman demanded the chief minister and the inspector general of police to ensure justice for her.
