LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday granted Gulberg police four-day physical remand of PTI woman wing leader Shabnam Jahangir in the Askari Tower attack case.

The police presented Ms Jahangir before the court and sought her physical custody for 12 days.

The investigating officer told the court that the woman leader was involved in the attack on the tower during the May 9 violent protests by the PTI. He said the custody of the suspect was required for the investigation and conduct of her photogrammetric and voice match tests.

Judge Abher Gul Khan allowed the police to have four-day custody of the woman suspect and directed the IO to produce her in the court on June 19.

Separately, the judge sought further arguments on a post-arrest bail petition of PTI Senator Ijaz Chaudhry in the Askari Tower attack case.

A counsel for the senator argued that the petitioner was not present at the alleged occurrence but the police implicated her in the case with mala fide intention.

He said the petitioner was an elderly person and cannot be kept behind bars for an indefinite period.

He asked the court to release the senator on bail.

The judge adjourned the hearing till June 21 for further arguments.
