KARACHI: Hearing of KESC plea put off

Published January 27, 2006

KARACHI, Jan 26: The Sindh High Court adjourned for further hearing on Thursday a petition moved by the Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation against alleged harassment of its officials by the police.

Additional Advocate-General M Ahmed Pirzada informed a bench, comprising Justices Mohammad Moosa K. Leghari and Mohammad Athar Saeed that a case against four KESC officials has been registered by the Gulbahar police on the complaint of two marble factories. Sub-inspector Arshad Ahmad of the Gulbahar police station stated that he has completed investigations and the KESC chief billing officer and three other officials were required for questioning and further investigation.

The AAG requested the bench to vacate an interim order passed against the arrest of accused officers on the previous date. They had been booked for their failure to return electricity meters from the complainant’s factories under the relevant provisions of the penal code. The bench adjourned the case to Feb 7 for further hearing.
