GUJRANWALA, Jan 25: The chief minister has sought a detailed report from the health secretary over the landgrabbing issue of Gujranwala DHQ hospital. Reports said a delegation of parliamentarians, led by MNA Imranullah Chaudhry, on Wednesday called on Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi in Lahore and informed him about landgrabbing of the hospital after changing the revenue record.

Later, the delegation had a meeting with the health secretary and demanded an immediate action against illegal occupants.

Earlier, the delegation had accused the health secretary of patronizing the landgrabbers.

Meanwhile, DCO Khalid Masood Chaudhry has sent a report to the health secretary, confirming that the disputed land is actually the property of DHQ hospital which has been grabbed after changing the revenue record.

The report said around 80-kanal agricultural land had been acquired in 1963 for the hospital and no boundary wall was built. Landgrabbers occupied three kanals and one marla, including trauma centre’s site, and had tried to stop construction work. The DHQ hospital administration was defending its property following using all resources which should be encouraged and favoured, the report said.

The health secretary will present the report to the chief minister shortly.

MUHARRAM SECURITY: Over 200 activists of Muslim Ittehad Council will guard imambargahs, mosques and the Shia community meetings during Muharram to maintain law and order.

At a meeting held here on Wednesday presided over by council’s Punjab president Khwaja Shujaullah, the participants said miscreants would not be allowed to shatter the unity of Muslims at any cost.

The meeting extended its cooperation to the district administration and police to maintain law and order during the holy month.
