KARACHI, Jan 25: The Sindh Minister for Planning and Development, Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, on Wednesday visited Orangi Town and inspected the ongoing extension work of the Qatar Hospital and the under-construction Government Girls Degree College in Sector-11. The extension project of the said hospital will cost Rs200 million. So far, Rs60 million have been spent on it since 2004.

Under the project, a four-storey building has been completed until now. The addition of cardiac, orthopaedic, kidney and psychiatric wards are in the final stages.

The minister directed the concerned officials to see that the project was completed by June this year instead of June 2007, however, he stressed that the standard of work should be maintained.

During a visit to the under-construction degree college, Mr Bukhari was told that so far Rs20 million had been spent on the project costing Rs31.6 million. It would be completed by June this year.—PPI
