BAJAUR: A policeman was injured when unknown attackers opened fire on him here on Wednesday, rescue officials said.

Rescue 1122 officials said that the incident occurred in Raghagan Bazaar when unidentified miscreants opened fire on Israr Khan, who was performing duty in the marketplace.

They said that the policeman was critically injured and was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar, for treatment by the rescue workers. According to local residents, the attackers fired at least two shots at Israr.

They said the miscreants fled before the police and local traders could arrive at the site. No one claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, a team of policemen led by Khar police station SHO launched a search operation in the area for the arrest of the attackers, according to a statement issued from the office of the district police officer.

However, the police didn’t share anything with the mediapersons about the arrest of the people involved in the attack till filing of this report on Wednesday evening.
