LAHORE, Jan 23: Punjab Rangers and Hattaf Security won by narrow margins on the opening day of Novices Cup Polo tournament on Monday. The half-goal handicap proved the decider in Punjab Rangers’ 3 1/2-3 win over Remington.

For the losers, Faisal Qadeer Khokhar struck the solitary goal of the first chukker through a field effort.

Remington held on to the lead (2-1 1/2) as both the teams scored a goal each in the second chukker. Nauman Wasif banged home a goal for the Rangers while Faisal scored his second for the losing side.

No goal was scored in the third chukker but the Rangers scored two goals in the fourth chukker while conceding one.

Ali Hashim Rizvi and Nauman scored a goal each for the winners while Atif Tiwana struck in the dying minutes for the losers.

Two and half goal handicap enabled Hattaf beat Nurpur 3 1/2-3. Hussain Iftikhar scored all three goals for the losing side. Kamran Zaidi scored the solitary goal of Hattaf in the first chukker.
