Brick kiln workers’ demo

KASUR, Jan 23: About a hundred brick kiln workers staged a protest demonstration against maltreatment by the owners and low wages on Monday. Led by Brick Kiln Union of the district president Imtiaz Ahmad, the demonstrators took out a rally from Madina Town, and marching on city roads, reached the district courts where they held the demonstration.

The demonstrators, who were carrying banners, raised slogans against the kiln owners and demanded raise in their wages according to the new labour act. They also demanded new residential colonies and free dispensaries and hospitals for them.

They also raised slogans against the district labour officer and demanded his immediately transfer. They threatened that they would continue their protest if their demands were not met.
