KARACHI, Jan 23: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui has said that the code of conduct implemented during the previous year for regulation of processions and gatherings in Muharram would be valid this year as well.

Addressing the meeting of Ulema belonging to various schools of thought on Monday, the home minister said that there was no restriction on delivering religious speeches and sermons except for those meant to incite people.

He warned of strict legal action if the loudspeakers were used to provoke people. He urged the Ulema to preach patience and tolerance to the people so that people belonging to various schools of thought could perform their religious practices in a peace-ful atmosphere during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.

The Ulema assured him of their full cooperation in connection with the government’s steps for maintaining peace during the month.—APP
