Mubeen Khilji, who held the post of a provincial minister during the PTI government, has become the latest to jump ship and quit former prime minister Imran Khan’s party.

In a press conference, Khilji announced he is parting ways with the PTI on account of the May 9 violence. “We wanted peaceful protests,” he said, condemning the vandalism that took place in the aftermath of Imran’s arrest.

He added that he was not pressurised into taking the decision, instead elaborated that the reason behind leaving the party was the “nation’s security”.

“We cannot under any condition remain a party to the violence that took place on May 9,” Khilji added.
