KARACHI, Jan 22: Karachi’s Ali Asad and skipper Sarfraz Ahmed hit unbeaten half centuries and their 101-runs seventh wicket stand steered Pakistan under-19 to an exciting four wicket success over touring West Indies Junior team at National Stadium on Sunday.

Left handed Ali smashed a superb unbeaten 70 off 77 deliveries studded with eight boundaries and Sarfraz hammered a 55-ball 52 not out with four hits to the fence to set up victory.

At one stage the home team was tottering at 154 for six in 31st over with leg spinner Sharmarh Brooks taking three crucial wickets to cause the slump in home team’s fortunes.

Islamabad’s Muhammad Ibrahim played a dashing knock of 65 in 76 deliveries laced with ten powerful boundaries which tore apart West Indies bowling after Ali Khan went for five.

Brooks, besides getting rid of Riaz Kail (18), Ramiz Raja (11), also got the prized scalp of Ibrahim.

Earlier, put to bat first, West Indies teenagers posted 254 for nine wickets in their 50 overs. Kieron Pollard hit a sparkling 53 off 49 balls and it included four hits to the boundary and three over it.

Andre McCarthy banged 32 in 25 balls with four 4s and a six.

Captain Leon Johnson made a patient 49 off 100 balls with the aid of four boundaries. Gajanand Singh smashed an enterprising 41 in 53 balls, striking five boundaries.
