MUZAFFARGARH: City police claimed on Monday to have solved a murder case involving the death of a widow and arrested the suspect.

According to the police, 48-year-old Nasreen Akhtar was found killed in her home on April 7. Her body was dismembered and packed into a bag. The suspect, Mohammed Khalid, who is the victim’s cousin, confessed to the crime. He said he threw a brick at her head, causing her to lose consciousness. He then attacked her with a knife, ultimately killing her.

After committing the crime, Khalid fled to Multan with his cousin. He returned later and spent the night in Fiaz Park. The next day, he went back to the victim’s house and packed her body in a bag.

Two days later, Khalid contacted the victim’s brother, Alamdar Hussain, stating that Nasreen Akhtar’s mobile phone was not responding. Together, they went to her house in the city area, broke the lock open, and found the victim’s body in the bag.

District Police Officer Hasnain Haider formed a team, led by SDPO City Rehan Rasool Afghan, who, along with SHO Iftikhar Malkani, analysed call data and interrogated 44 individuals. The investigation led to the suspect’s confession on Monday. DPO Hasnain Haider lauded his team for solving the case.

The city police registered a case against Khalid. Sources said Nasreen Akhtar was the widow of Qaiser Pahore, who tragically died during an investigation at the NAB office.
