KARACHI: Three persons, including a policeman, were shot at and wounded by armed robbers over resistance in the city on Saturday, police said.

They said that Constable Mahival Nazar, 50, who was posted at Anti-street crime cell Jamshed Town, was shot at and wounded by the firing of unknown robbers when he put up resistance.

The incident took place near Aladin Park in Gulshan-i-Iqbal in the morning and the wounded constable was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Gulshan SHO Mairaj Anwar said that the constable was waiting for his relative, who was coming from his native village, near NIPA Bridge at around 4:30am. Armed pillion riders attempted to snatch his motorbike. As he put up resistance, the bike-snatchers opened fire on him and fled without any loot. He suffered bullet injuries in the leg.

In Manghopir, 35-year-old Mohammed Khan was shot at and wounded by armed muggers over resistance near Chilghezi Cut, Northern Bypass on Saturday morning.

Area SHO Nadeem Siddiqi said that armed robbers snatched a motorbike from him. As he put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on him and fled along with victim’s two-wheeler. The wounded man was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).

A 55-year-old man was shot at and injured by the firing of unknown armed motorcyclists when he put up resistance to their robbery bid near W-25 bus stop in Ahsanabad on Saturday morning.

The SITE-Superhighway police said that the victim, identified as Ghulam Rasool, was transported to the ASH.
