KARACHI, Jan 18: Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Administration has kicked off fumigation campaign, under the supervision of TMO Matanat Ali, to kill germs following animal sacrifice during Eidul Azha.

According to a handout issued on Wednesday, germicides have been sprayed in UC 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the town, while the same would be sprayed in other UCs according to the schedule.

Deputy Town Officer (solid waste) Nafis Khan said that germicides would also be sprayed at garbage dens besides daily lifting of garbage and debris and sprinkling of lime.

MANHOLES: Site Town Nazim Izharuddin Ahmed Khan on Wednesday directed the town officials concerned to place covers on open manholes, which were posing threat to lives of people particularly children.

He warned that if any accident occurred due to open manholes the officials responsible would not be spared.

Around 200 manholes have been covered so far while in

UC-1 alone 75 covers have been placed over the open manholes.

Izharuddin Khan asked UC nazims and residents of the town to identify manhole cover thieves to police or directly to him so that they would be taken to task.

ARRANGEMTNS: Jamshed town administration has devised foolproof security plan for Muharramul Haram, while sanitation, streetlights repair and road carpeting will also be carried out for smooth observance of the holy month.

This was stated by Jamshed Town Nazim Col (rtd) Syed Tahir Mashhadi while chairing a meeting here on Wednesday to review the arrangements regarding Muharramul Haram. Town Naib Nazim Arif Ajakia, TMO Masroor Ahmed, TPO Tahir Naveed, UC nazims and naib nazims, town officials and management of various Imambargahs of the town attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Tahir Mashhadi said despite limited resources the town administration would make all-out arrangements around Imambargahs and along the routes of Muharram processions.

He also listened to the problems of sewerage, water supply, sanitation, security and encroachments. He issued on the spot directives for their resolution.

The town nazim asked Imambargahs’ management to keep vigil on unscrupulous elements and inform police about suspected persons. — PPI
