SAHIWAL, Jan 17: District and sessions judge Dr Riaz Mahmood has ordered a probe into the killing of two persons involved in a kidnap-cum-murder case and asked the judicial magistrate to submit his report within two months. On Jan 14, a Chichawatni police party led by sub-inspector Mohammad Asghar took accused Iftikhar Dogar and Ashfaq to an ice factory for the recovery of the weapons they had used in the killing of kidnapped youth Nadeem.

The police team was on its way back after the recovery of the arms when five armed men opened fire in a bid to get released Dogar and Ashfaq near Chak 89/12-L. In an exchange of fire, both the accused in custody were killed when they tried to escape.

Iftikhar Dogar, Ashfaq and Mukhtar had kidnapped Nadeem on Dec 27 and demanded Rs1.5 million from his father, Abdullah, for his release. Over non-payment of the ransom, they killed Nadeem after sodomizing him and threw his body into a well.

Police arrested Iftikhar and Ashfaq and registered a case on Jan 8.

KIDNAP BID: Police on Tuesday foiled a bid to kidnap a young man from the district courts.

Shahid along with his colleague, Asad, had come to the district courts when four car-riders tried to kidnap him. When Shahid raised an alarm, the police reached the spot and caught two of the accused.

The police recovered two pistols, one pump action and a rifle from the accused.

SUSPENDED: The Multan range DIG has suspended from service four SHOs on charges of negligence in duty.

Those suspended are Fatehsher SHO Mulazim Husain Shah, Kameer SHO Mohammad Asif Khan, city SHO Mohammad Asif Wattoo and Civil Lines SHO Rana Mohammad Akram.
