BATTAGRAM: The local residents have complained that they are unable to get free flour under government scheme.
Talking to Dawn, they alleged most of the deserving people were getting only two bags of 10-kilogram instead of three stipulated under the government free flour scheme. They also alleged people from neighbouring districts were getting the free flour at the distribution points here.
Ayaz Torkhaili, ANP Battagram district president, demanded of the government to launch an inquiry into the alleged corruption in the free flour distribution.
Another local, Saifullah, urged the deputy commissioner to ensure transparency in distribution of free flour.
Nisar Khan, a tehsil council member and QWP Battagram chairman, said relevant officials picked and chose people for distribution of free flour. He urged the DC to set up an impartial body to probe the ‘irregularities’ in free flour distribution.
It has also been noticed that mismanagement and slow process of flour distribution have troubled the recipients, who come early in the morning and wait in long lines till evening.
