PESHAWAR: Unknown assailants hurled a grenade at the Shaikhan police post on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Saturday night, but no casualty occurred, officials said.

Badhber police station officials said unknown persons lobbed a hand grenade inside the police post, which exploded with a bang.

There was, however, no casualty in the attack, they said, adding boundary wall of the post was partially damaged.

The officials said that a case was registered against the unknown attackers.

On January 22, a patrolling party of the same police post had narrowly escaped an improvised explosive device blast in Gula Khan Zangal area on the border between the provincial capital and the Khyber district.

The bomb, weighing around one kilogramme, was planted along a road.

It went off seconds after a police van went past. The patrolling vehicle was slightly damaged in the blast.

The police party was patrolling the area, where a polio eradication vaccination campaign was under way.
