Jayasuriya back in action

Published January 17, 2006

SYDNEY, Jan 16: Sri Lanka opener Sanath Jayasuriya has returned to action after freak injury which cut short his cricket tour of New Zealand. The 36-year-old slipped in the shower and dislocated his shoulder early this month. However he was back in first-class action on Sunday with Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club, against Moors Sports Club, and made a half-century before being run out.

Jayasuriya said: “I have obtained a letter from an orthopaedic surgeon from Apollo Hospital and got the all-clear to start playing again.”—Agencies
