KOHAT: An Afghan woman was killed when a loaded gun held by his son allegedly went off accidentally in Bilal Garhi area here on Tuesday, the police said.

City police station SHO Sohail Khan told Dawn that Tariq Shah was cleaning a gun without knowing that it was loaded. It went off and a bullet struck the chest of his mother, Gul Meena. She died on the spot, he added.

He said the police had arrested the accused. The body was moved to the KDA District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy. Later, it was handed over to the relatives for burial.

Meanwhile, the city police on Tuesday hunted down a notorious drug dealer, who used to provide the contraband to drug addicts. The drug dealer, Arsalan, was arrested from Qureshabad area during a raid on a house.

City police SHO Sohail Khan said 5.5-kilogram hashish and 332 grams of ice drug were found from the house.

He said the drug dealer had been arrested a number of times in the past and several FIRs had been registered against him, but he started dealing in drugs again once he came out of the jail.

The SHO said the dealer bought hashish from Orakzai district and ice from Karkhano area of Peshawar.
