PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ghulam Ali conferred civil awards on 11 persons for their extraordinary services in their respective fields.

The recipients of the awards included religious and public figures, scientists, artists, musicians, a journalist and a sportsman.

During a ceremony held at the Governor House here on Thursday, religious scholar and Chairman Council Islamic Ideology Dr Qibla Ayaz was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his extraordinary services while Dr Faridullah Khan, a renowned cardiovascular surgeon, was awarded President’s Award of Pride of Performance.

President’s Pride of Performance Award was also given to Bushra Farrukh for her services in the field of drama and art, singer Gul Zari Wagma for her services in the field of music, member of the blind cricket team Masood Janbesides filmmaker and producer Abdul Aziz Khan.

Musician Zainullah, Naseebullah, Suraj Narayen, Sikandar Yar Khan were also awarded the Pride of Performance Award. The governor posthumously awarded the Pride of Performance Award to Musa Khankhel for his extraordinary services in the field of journalism.

KP Caretaker chief minister, ministers, chief secretary, police chief and administrative heads of different department were also present on the occasion.
