Rape case against doctor, dispenser

Published January 16, 2006

SAHIWAL, Jan 15: Carrying out a local court’s orders, Fateh Sher police on Saturday night registered a rape case against a doctor, his dispenser, an Elite Force inspector and two others after a lapse of some seven months. Reports said that Dr Sadiq Saleem had allegedly raped his staff nurse on June 12, 2005. His dispenser Akbar had performed the duty of guard. The victim’s request to register a rape case against the accused was never entertained by the police. Inspector Rana Iftikhar Ahmed of Elite Force, Ahmed Ali and an unidentified person had even hurled murder threats if she had the rape case registered.

At this, the victim filed a writ petition in the court of Additional Sessions judge Syed Hamid Husain.—Correspondent
