BAJAUR: A local court here on Saturday awarded death sentence to a man and 14-year imprisonment to his brother for killing a man and injuring his two brothers over two years ago.

The verdict was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Hussain Ali at the conclusion of the hearing of the case.

The incident had occurred on July 15, 2020 in Qazafi area of Utmankhel tehsil. Adul Raziq was killed and his two brothers, Fazal Hayat and Mahmood Jan, were injured in the incident.

The judge announced the death sentence for convict, Amir Zaman, also a resident of Qazafi area of Utmankhel tehsil, and also imposed a Rs1 million fine on him. The judge also awarded 14-year imprisonment to his brother, Saeed Jan and a fine of Rs500,000.

The judge also issued the perpetual arrest warrants for a fugitive co-accused, Sher Zaman Khan, also the brother of Amir Zaman and Saeed Jan.

Meanwhile, seven persons were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in fell in to a ravine in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur tribal district on Saturday.

Local residents and Rescue 1122 officials said that the mishap occurred in the hilly Shahi Thangi area. They said that the vehicle met the accident when the driver was taking a sharp turn.

A Rescue 1122 official told this correspondent that the wounded persons, including a woman, were immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar.
