ISLAMABAD: Two persons were killed and four others injured in separate robbery incidents in the capital on Saturday, police said.

In the first incident, two motorcycle riders armed with weapons raided a subsidided flour sale point in Koral and held up the staff at gunpoint, the police said, adding there was a long queue of people to purchase flour.

When the robbers tried to snatch cash from the flour sellers, the latter put up resistance on which the armed men opened fire during which five persons sustained bullet injuries.

The robbers escaped from the spot, the police said, adding the injured were shifted to hospital where one of them identified as Safir, 30, a resident of Mardan, was pronounced dead.

The injured were identified as Sadaqat, Naz Mehmood, Mohammad Aksar and Altaf.

In another incident, a taxi driver was shot dead in an apparent robbery attempt at G-9. The deceased was identified as Ateeb Abbasi, 26.

Three persons riding a motorcycle tried to intercept Abbasi at G-9/3 Service Road. The motorcyclists shot the driver when he tried to speed up. As a result, the taxi driver sustained bullet injuries and lost control over the wheels and the vehicle overturned. Police reached the spot and found the taxi driver dead.
