Published January 16, 2006

KARACHI, Jan 15: The dumping of offal in landfill sites in Gulshan Town will produce fertiliser worth Rs7 million, which will be used in 55 parks and green belts of the town while the surplus would be sold to generate funds. According to a statement of Gulshan Town on Saturday, Town Nazim Wasay Jalil said diesel expenses amounting to Rs1.2 million had been saved through dumping of offal at landfill sites located near the town.

He said about 125,000 animals were sacrificed in Gulshan Town whose offal was disposed of immediately.

Jalil appreciated the performance of the town administration and also acknowledged the cooperation extended by the town’s residents.

The statement further said that the town administration had received about 150 complaints during the three days of Eid, out of which 137 were resolved immediately.—APP
