SAHIWAL: Five members of a family were burnt in an LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinder blast at Chak 57/12-L on Saturday.
According to reports, the LPG cylinder at Muhammad Afzal’s house had a leak and it had a blast as soon as some family member lit a match in the kitchen. Five family members who received burns were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Chichawatni. Two of them who were in a critical condition had been shifted to the Nishtar Hospital, Multan. The injured included Afzal, Tayyaba (12), Anwar, Idrees and Sonia Bibi.
ROs TRAINING: The regional office of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) gave one-day election training to 20 returning officers (ROs) appointed for 20 provincial assembly seats in Sahiwal division.

The ECP officials imparted election training on the ROs on the campus of Quaid-i-Azam Academy for Educational Development.
Among the total constituencies, eight, seven and five are located in districts of Okara, Sahiwal, and Pakpattan, respectively.
Earlier, ECP appointed 20 bureaucrats as ROs and 40 employees of the education department as assistant ROs for conducting provincial assembly election. The ROs mostly belong to the district administration, revenue department, local government & community development, and metropolitan corporations of respective areas.
In district Sahiwal, ADC Shafiq Dogar, AC Usman Chaudhary, ADC (R) Aitzaz Aslam Marth, ADC (G) Usman Munir, ADC (F& P) Yasir Farid and AC Mahtab Ahmed have been appointed as the ROs in PP 196-Sahiwal-I to PP 202-Sahiwal-VII.
Shafiq Dogar told Dawn the election schedule had been issued under which candidates would submit nomination papers from March 12 to 14. It is said that nomination papers would be scrutinised and the final list and allocation of symbols to final candidates would be issued on March 22, April 5, and April 6, respectively, while the election will be held on April 30.
