KARACHI: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested two suspected militants, said to be associated with outlawed Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), from Lyari.

“An intelligence agency and police carried out a raid in the Kalakot area of Lyari and arrested two militants linked with BLF,” said City SSP Arif Aziz.

He said that the held suspects, identified as Waleed alias Walar and Shoaib alias Bablu, were part of the Dr Allah Nazar-led group.

He said that the police recovered two hand grenades from their custody.

“The held suspects were planning to spread chaos and lawlessness in the metropolis,” the official said, adding that a case was registered against them and further investigations were under way.

Man shot dead

A young man was shot dead in the Mowach Goth area on Friday, police said.

The Saeedabad police said that Abu Bakar, 28, was killed in Sachal Colony.

The police said that it appeared that the murder was motivated by some personal enmity.

The body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, Rangers and police jointly carried out an intelligence-based action in Surjani Town on Friday and arrested a suspect who posed himself as an official of an intelligence agency.

A spokesperson for the paramilitary force identified the held suspect as Dilnawaz and said that he was allegedly involved in street crime and robberies.
