PSL nuisance

Published March 8, 2023

THIS refers to the recent inconvenience faced by the public in the name of security measures for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Multan. While I under- stand the need for security, I believe that the measures put in place for the event caused undue incon-venience to the public.

The restrictions on movement, parti- cularly in areas around the stadiums where the PSL matches were being held, caused significant disruptions to the daily life in the city. Residents in these areas had to deal with road closures, security checkpoints, and limited access to essential services. This led to serious delays and difficulties in commuting, shopping and carrying out other necessary activities.

I believe that the government has a responsibility to ensure the safety and security of citizens, but it must alsotake into account the needs and well- being of the public. Instead of creating inconvenience, there should be a focus on facilitating the public during PSL and other such events.

The government should work with the relevant authorities to develop measures that may balance security steps with functionality, if not comfort, of the citizens.

By working together, they can surely create a more secure environment with-out ignoring the needs of the citizens.
